I'm playing on MINNESOTA. When looking at starting pitchers, its always important to look deeper than just at the overall stats for the season. While Maeda's overall numbers from this season don't look impressive, he turned the corner in his last start. Not only did he keep the ball in the park, but he allowed just two hits through 5 2/3 innings, striking out eight. While Boyd's overall numbers from this season look pretty impressive, keep in mind that he's coming back from injury. Last time out, he allowed three hits and two runs, while lasting just an inning. (He left with left knee tendinitis.) Also, lets not forget that Boyd is 36-57 with a 4.94 ERA (1.31 WHIP) for his career. By comparison, Maeda is 55-38 with a 3.80 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. The Twins have won Maeda's last three starts against the Tigers, the most recent was a h2h matchup against Boyd. Yesterday's win notwithstanding, the Tigers are struggling. Even after yesterday's win, they're still 36-73 in day games. I say the Maeda and the Twins bounce back.
