This is an 8* TOTAL SLUGFEST on the OVER between the Philadelphia Phillies and the St. Louis Cardinals.
A couple of struggling starters collide on Sunday afternoon and in our opinion, all signs point to a classic high-scoring slug-fest:
Aaron Nola: He's 3-3 with a 4.28 ERA. Nola most recently gave up one run off five hits over eight innings against Atlanta on Tuesday. Previous to that htough he'd given up nine runs over two starts.
Adam Wainwright: He's 6-4 with a 4.82 ERA. Wainwright gave up nine runs off seven hits and three walks over 3.2 innings while striking out two in a 13-1 loss to Cincinnati on Tuesday.
The bottom line: Note that Philadelphia has seen the total go OVER the number in ten of 15 this year as a road dog in the +125 to +175 range, while St. Louis has seen the total go OVER in eight of 14 as a home fav in the -125 to -175 range. With these two volatile starters going head-to-head, all signs do indeed point to the OVER as the savvy move in this contest.
