This is an 8* SUPER TOTAL on the UNDER between the Seattle Mariners and the Minnesota Twins.
These teams exploded for a whopping 27 runs last night in the Twins 20-7 destruction of the visiting Mariners, but in our opinion, all signs point to more of a "pitchers duel" on Wednesday.
Sam Gaviglio: He's 2-1 with a 2.79 ERA. Gaviglio comes in off a gem against Tampa Bay on Saturday, allowing one earned run off four hits over five innings while also going on to strike out six. Gaviglio hasn't been perfect, but overall he's filled into the rotation admirably. Note that he's 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA in all night games this year.
Ervin Santana: He's 8-3 with a 2.20 ERA. Santana most recently threw a four-hit shutout in a victory over the Giants on Friday. It was a great bounce back after his worst start of the year and he'll now look to improve upon his red hot 5-1, 1.71 ERA in all night games.
The bottom line: Note that Seattle has seen the total go UNDER the number in four of six already this year after allowing ten runs or more, while Minnesota has seen the total go UNDER in four of five this season as a home fav in the -125 to -175 range. With these two capable starters going head-to-head on Wednesday night, all signs do indeed point to the UNDER as the savvy move in this contest.
