This is a 10* NATIONAL LEAGUE TOTAL OF THE YEAR on the OVER between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Cincinnati Reds.

When the smoke clears at the end of this one, I look for the total to sneak above the posted number. The Reds will no doubt be desperate here as they look for just their second win in the last ten games in the opener of this three-game set; note that Cincinnati has lost eight of nine behind a horrid offensive stretch in which it has hit just .178 while averaging only 1.8 runs, just 5 for 52 with runners in scoring position in that span. Suffice it to say, I think that string of futility at the plate gets broken today; note that Cincinnati has seen the total go OVER the number in 32 of 62 "night" games this year. The Reds send Homer Bailey (8-5, 4.22 ERA) to the hill; Bailey gave up three solo dingers in a no-decision in his team's 4-3 setback at Milwaukee on Tuesday. Bailey has posted a 3.57 ERA, winning just one of his last seven starts. The Diamondbacks can empathize, they lost for a fourth time in six games on Sunday in a 4-2 setback to Philadelphia. Arizona turns to Chase Anderson (6-4, 3.58 ERA) who gave up two runs over six frames in a 5-4 win over Detroit on Tuesday (note that the Diamondbacks have seen the total eclipse the number in 37 of 67 "night" games this season). Neither starter comes in with much momentum, look for these offenses to finally wake up and for this total to go OVER the number as the game comes down the stretch.
