If the Cubs want to keep their flickering hopes alive, they can't afford to drop another game to the lowly Dbax. I expect them to bounce back. Pitching at home is very important to both today's starters. Williams is 2-0 with a 3.28 ERA and 1.257 WHIP in five home starts. The Cubs won all five games. On the other hand, Smith is 0-4 with a 9.64 ERA and 2.071 WHIP in four road starts. Last time he pitched on the road, Smith served up three HR's in one innings. The bullpen may not have gotten the job done yesterday but the Chicago relievers entered the weekend with a 3.13 ERA at home compared to Arizona relievers' 5.84 ERA on the road. Cubs win.
