Michael Fulmer makes his long awaited return for the Tigers, having not thrown in the Majors since 2018. His final spring tune-up saw him go two scoreless innings vs. the Reds on Wednesday.
Fulmer has't fully regained his velocity yet, but he's still throwing in the 93-94 MPH range:
"All these intrasquad games and live batting practices, especially the exhibition game last Wednesday, I've been super nervous," he told the News. "And I don't think it's a bad thing. I think it's those good nerves you get from starting the home opener."
Fulmer is only expected to last three or four innings, but I still believe it'll be enough to get the better of his gas can counterpart Mike Montgomery, who allowed five runs off four hits over three innings in his final spring tune up.
This is a great price on the home side in this favorable matchup. Lay it.
